It brought about long journeys and hard work to satisfy the needs and demands of the population; it was a time of increase in the human, journalistic and graphic resources, it also made possible that nowadays the totality of the stuff are professionals, it means journalists graduated from the university, and each of them with the required qualification for his or her duty.
The introduction of the computer in the realization of the newspaper goes to January 1998. Step by step the traditional typography was abandoned to give way to the modern technology. All these technological changes brought about significant improvement in the quality of the newspaper.
The digital edition was launched to the cyberspace on December 22nd 2000 with 20 sections. Since its foundation its main objective has been to reflect the daily life of Guantanamo population, their traditions, customs, peculiarities, main activities and labors, as well as the work to the Cuban Revolution in this part of the country.
The second version of the design was made in April 2005, celebrating the 100 years of the disembark of Marti, Gomez and other Cuban personalities in Cajobabo beach, Imias municipality. That year April 11th was selected as the most important historical date of the province, and that was the reason why the new designed was launched to the cyberspace from the historical place of Cajobabo beach.
New important sections were added to the site to inform people about our reality, truth like the Yankee illegal base in Guantanamo, territory occupied illegally and that is a place of constant abuses and tortures.
We can mention sections like The Stone Zoo (the only one of its kind in the world), the Prime Village of Cuba, Baracoa and The National Park Alejandro de Humboldt, a biosphere reservation, such sections were placed in the site to give information of places that characterize our province.
The site has its English version since 2004, to keep inform English speakers that visit the Cuban press.
